Responsibilities
The mission of the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) is to ensure a healthy ocean, sustainable fisheries, a thriving sustainable blue economy and vibrant coastal communities across Europe. It develops, implements, and evaluates the common fisheries policy, which contributes to Europe’s food security. It leads a coordinated approach to all ocean-related policies in the Commission. This includes a comprehensive agenda for marine knowledge, research, innovation and investment.
Transparency
As part of the Commission's commitment to transparency, Commission staff holding management functions publish information on and minutes of all meetings they hold with interest representatives.
